Melissa Low, CAE, is the Senior Director, Communications & Advocacy. In this role, she coordinates the Association’s communications strategy, event marketing, media efforts, and grassroots and advocacy projects as part of the Membership Engagement team.
Melissa leads the Association’s advocacy efforts and manages its member resource center, www.clubindustryvotes.org. For more than 16 years, she has been engaged with the legislative, regulatory and legal issues affecting the club industry. She is the author of the widely distributed Legislative Report (blog), a frequent contributor to Club Management and Boardroom magazines, and a regular presenter at the Business Management Institute (BMI) Club Management. In addition, Melissa currently serves as the Vice President of the National Alliance for Accessible Golf, working to ensure opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Melissa joined CMAA in the fall of 2002. Previously, she worked on Capitol Hill as a Staff Assistant and Projects Caseworker and a Senate Page in the United States Senate for a Senator from the great state of South Carolina. Melissa graduated from the College of Charleston cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a concentration on the American political system. In 2019, Melissa earned her Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation through the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).
Originally from Charleston, SC, Melissa lives in Springfield, VA, with her active, multi-generational family of five, two golden retrievers, and one cat. Melissa is an avid reader, slow but persistent runner who completed her first half marathon in 2016, devoted user of social media (@ml286), and political spectator.
