Dr. Margie Ferree Jones is a Professor at The Collins College of Hospitality Management at Cal Poly Pomona. Margie has a Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University and a master’s degree in hotel administration from Cornell University. Margie leads the beverage program for the college. In addition to beverage-related coursework at the Collins College, Margie regularly teaches the capstone leadership course for undergraduates and has also teaches courses in marketing, special events, and food & beverage. Margie is active in several college and university committees including the university Curriculum Committee, the college and university assessment committees and the Cal Poly Pomona Institutional Review Board. She also served as the college curriculum chair from 2001 to 2013.
She is a certified sommelier and a certified wine educator (CWE). She has been a wine judge at several international wine competitions. Margie was a board member of the Society of Wine Educators (SWE) from 2009-2015 and is involved in a number of other beverage-related organizations.
Prior to joining the Collins College faculty, Margie worked as a manager in food & beverage with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. She has also worked for VMS Realty, Hyatt Hotels, and RCI, Inc.
